How this is worked out
Each drop is the wall height plus 100 mm for trimming. The number of drops a roll yields is the roll length divided by that drop, rounded down. The drops needed are the total wall width divided by the roll width, rounded up, and the rolls are the drops needed divided by the drops per roll, rounded up.
Worked example
- Total wall width 12 m
- Wall height 2.4 m
- Roll 0.53 m × 10.05 m
drop 2.5 m, so 4 drops per roll; 12 ÷ 0.53 = 23 drops; 23 ÷ 4 = 5.75, rounded up
6 rolls
Assumptions and limits
- Allows 100 mm per drop for trimming. Papers with a large pattern repeat waste considerably more and need extra rolls.
- Doors and windows are not deducted, which usually covers the offcuts around them.
